PKU- Late Diagnosis & Treatment

     Fortunately, the USA tests for PKU and other genetic disorders.  When a baby is 24 hours old, the hospital takes a heel prick test (Guthrie test).  PKU was not tested for until 1963 in the United States and it is still not screened for in many countries.
     The below link introduces you to a woman who was not diagnosed nor treated early on.  At times, I become overwhelmed with life in general.  But I have much to be thankful for!
