Dream Job

Lily never sits still long enough for me to take a picture!

I have always enjoyed photography.  It all started with my dad and 4-H.  When I was younger, I entered a photography project each year for 4-H.  My dad and I would drive around and he would find the perfect spot to take a picture.  I guess you could say he's got an eye for things!  We would use his 35mm camera...back then nothing was digital, point & shoot, it was all manual.  My dad taught me how to adjust the shutter speed, about lighting and flashes, he showed me how to line things up and to not make it too complicated.
All of his teaching and hard work paid off.  When I was in fourth grade, my photography project was so AWESOME that it won me a pass to compete in the Illinois State Fair.  Woa....that is a huge accomplishment and difficult.  I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but it really is pretty cool.  From that moment, I have always love photography.
Well, I grew up but my love for photography has not changed.  I like to think that I have an eye for things, unfortunately I don't always take a perfect picture.  Most of the problems lie with the models that I work with.  For some reason, I just can't get my 11, 8, and 1 year old to pose just right.  And when I'm trying to get a natural picture, they don't look all that natural!  Oh well.  Regardless of my models, I will be taking an abundance of photos.  They just grow up too fast and I don't want to miss a thing!

I wish that I could claim these photos as my talent...but NO.

What got me going on this post is a new giveaway that I just entered, by Beautiful Photo Props.  It is a photographer's dream, literally!  I may not be a professional photographer, but one day I would like to.  I plan on capturing special moments of my family and later in life, sharing my love of cameras with other people.
Since, I think that this giveaway is pretty AWESOME, I wanted to share with my fans.  Secretly, I'm hoping that you won't win the contest, because I really want the goodies!  But alas, I'm not so selfish that I won't share a good deal when I see one.  So here is the giveaway and good luck!
Just click on the photo!

  1. Kelly,

Great blog! I have a blog on blogspot, too. We should follow each other. It was inactive for awhile, but I recently started it again for a 365 Day Photo Project that I am doing online. Follow your dreams, great story. If you ever want to get out and shoot photos, I'd love to get out and take pictures with you.
