First Attempt at Low Protein Bread

I say this is the first attempt, but it's actually the second attempt!  The first one didn't go over so well.  We followed the directions and put the bread in the bread machine.  After that, nothing went as planned.  The bread didn't rise enough.  The bread didn't cook all the way through.  Then when it finally did appear to be thoroughly cooked, there was a giant hole in the center.  It was definitely going straight to the garbage.
This time, I ordered a premixed package of bread. In place of the eggs, I used a no egg substitute.  I read through the directions no less than 4 times!  I followed the directions step-by-step and pushed start on the bread machine.
The machine churned the mixture and the bread started to rise.  It looked like it was finally going to work.  The machine is on a timer, so I picked the kids up from school before the bread was done.  When I returned the timer was done and I checked out the bread.
Not cooked!  Somehow, I missed the part of the directions that said to set the machine for medium, not small.  So the bread didn't get cooked enough!  Not again.  Ryan took the bread out of the machine and baked it some more in the oven.  This bread also had a hole in the center.  I think it is from the churning that the machine does!  The bread looks good but I'm a little hesitant to try it out.

  1. I haven't tried it yet, but the new bread recipe on Cook for Love is supposed to be great. :) Good luck!
